October 2014 - The Secret Man of God

In a book soon to be published, assembled by Rev. Fr. Patrick Troadec from the writings, conferences and sermons of our Founder, we will be able to discover what constituted the secret framework of the life and the action of this outstanding man.

The Seminary's Academic year begins.

Dear Friends and Benefactors,

Monsignor Lefebvre, known for his public actions in defense of the Faith – which earned for him the nickname of “Iron Bishop” – was quite simply a man of God.

In a book soon to be published, assembled by Rev. Fr. Patrick Troadec from the writings, conferences and sermons of our Founder, we will be able to discover what constituted the secret framework of the life and the action of this outstanding man.

Man of deep faith, defender of doctrine, champion of Tradition, founder both of a priestly and a religious society, untiring missionary, first in Africa and then, for almost twenty years, throughout the whole world, Monsignor Lefebvre illuminated the past century with his imposing stature.

In this work, entitled “The Spiritual Life,” Fr. Troadec reveals to us the secret of the fecundity of this exceptional life: Monsignor Lefebvre was a man who lived of God and for God.

Like Rev. Fr. Libermann, founder of the Holy Ghost Fathers, the congregation to which he himself belonged, he kept in his heart a very simple, but often forgotten truth, that “God is all; man is nothing”. He would have deserved the title of Doctor of the virtue of Religion

It is for us a great honor to be able to publish this book in English, and we insistently invite you to acquire and read it, to meditate on it: it will help you to live in a deep union with God and it will also allow you to keep devotedly the torch of the faith and to transmit it to your children, whose souls have been entrusted by God to you.

This publication is also the mark of our gratitude towards our Founder.

In these troubled times. when the enemies of Holy Mother Church continue to destroy the last Catholic doctrines that were still standing and when the battle to defend the faith rages more than ever, we want, indeed, to follow in the footsteps of our Founder and to hold, as he did, this true and immutable Catholic Faith with all the forces of our souls, in deep charity and invincible hope.

With the fall, the academic year at the Seminary has begun in earnest.

On the last week of September, the Seminary was glad to host the US District Brothers for their annual retreat, preached by Fr. James Peek, and the renewal of their vows. At the same time, 5 postulants and 2 novices began their formation, under the direction of Fr. Kenneth Dean.

The first week of October saw the arrival of 18 new seminarians for the year of Humanities. After their week-long retreat, preached by Fr. Michael Harber, they have been happily received into our community.

The joy of now having the house full again is, however, slightly shadowed by more materialistic concerns. The expense of providing for a large community and for an aging building does not seem ever to diminish… For that reason, we appeal to your proven generosity. First of all we ask for the most important help that you can give us – your prayers, so that our heavenly Father will deign to protect and form these young men that He has called to become more perfect images of His Son, for His glory and the sanctification of souls. But, secondarily, we also dare to ask for your financial help, so that the material background for this work of formation may continue without too many unnecessary inconveniences.

As always, whatever you do, we assure you of our prayers before the Holy Altar for you and your families. May God bless you!

In Christo sacerdote et Maria.
