Annual Priests’ Meeting Fills the House

Seventy-seven priests arrived at the Seminary during the second week of February for this year’s Priests' Meeting. Most of the those in attendance serve in the Society of St. Pius X’s United States’ District, but the Seminary also welcomed two Society priests from South America as well as several friends who are not members of the Society. During the four-day meeting, the priests followed conferences, rested, and recreated with one another. Old friendships were renewed and new ones formed throughout the event.

This year, the theme of the conferences centered upon the sacrament of matrimony – the sacrament which creates and sustains Christian families. His Excellency Bishop Fellay, who was present at the meeting, also gave the priests a conference explaining in detail the situation of the Church under the current pontificate.

One highlight of the meeting was the time-honored hockey match between priests and seminarians, in which the seminarians avenged last year’s loss, handing the Fathers a 9-2 beating. Another special event, the Priests’ Mass was sung by Bishop Fellay on Thursday of that week, the day of the institution of the Mass and of the priesthood, and was attended by all the priests. All the servers of the Mass were priests, and there were several former schola masters in the all-priest schola.
